The day begins with a shuttle transfer from O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg. The drive into the lowveld takes approximately five to six hours, and by early afternoon the landscape has shifted entirely. Flat savannah, granite outcrops, marula trees. You are in Kruger country.On arrival at your rest camp in the heart of the Kruger National Park, Satara is our preferred base. We will confirm your accommodation in advance and suggest an alternative should Satara not be available. The camp sits in the central section of the park, one of the most productive game-viewing areas in the entire reserve.This is where you check in and stay. You do not leave the park again until Day 5. Tonight is your first night inside the wildlife, and the sounds outside your door will tell you exactly where you are.Your private field guide meets you on arrival. For the next five days, this is the person who reads the bush for your group exclusively. Take the afternoon to settle in, walk the camp, and prepare for an early start tomorrow. The gate opens before sunrise and your guide will be ready when it does.Dinner at the camp restaurant. The day ends quietly. Tomorrow it begins before first light.

Each full day in the park follows the rhythm of the bush, not a schedule. Before sunrise your guide has the vehicle ready as the gates open. Because your camp is inside the park, you are already there. No wasted morning driving to the entrance. You are out in the wildlife from the first light of the day.Your guide sets the route based on where the animals are moving. There is no convoy to follow and no predetermined stops. If a sighting warrants ten minutes or an hour, that is your call to make. Return to camp for a mid-morning break, rest through the midday heat, and head back out as the afternoon cools and the animals begin moving again.Two drives. Every hour of the day used well.

Before the sun is up, bags are packed and loaded. There is no returning to camp after this drive. You head straight out into the bush and make the most of every hour the park gives you before the gate.Your guide maximises the time. The morning light is the best light, and the bush at dawn rewards those who are already out in it. Drive until the gate, then meet your shuttle and head into Hoedspruit for breakfast before the road back to Johannesburg.You leave Kruger with your camera full and a quiet that only comes from five days completely switched off.
